The US Army's current-issue bayonet features a blade crafted from specialised high-grade steel, forged and pressed for substantial rigidity. Its surface undergoes a grey titanium coating, rendering it scratch-resistant with a muted grey finish.
The cutting edge undergoes localised heat treatment, enabling it to sever branches and wooden poles, cut through ropes, and open tins with its tip. The tang bears a production serial number.
The cylindrical handle is crafted from reinforced, non-slip insulating plastic with a textured mesh pattern for superior grip.
The crossguard incorporates a muzzle ring, while the handle's rear features a small locking notch. Its bayonet attachment mechanism mirrors that of the M7 bayonet.
The guard bears a dual-sided bottle opener, facilitating effortless removal of beer bottle caps.
The scabbard is likewise crafted from non-slip, insulated reinforced plastic. The lower insert features a retaining stud and a cutting edge.
The cutting edge angle is well-designed and highly durable. When the blade's longitudinal slot engages the retaining stud, the blade and scabbard edge fit tightly together, enabling it to cut through barbed wire.
A sharpening stone is mounted on the scabbard's back, protected by a fabric cover. The scabbard's end features a screwdriver blade for use as a pry tool.
The 14cm external pouch accommodates flints, haemostatic agents, and other emergency survival items. An iron belt clip secures it to a waistband.
